The Edifice- A Book Review

Happy Tuesday!!

I hope you all had a wonderful bank holiday, I most certainly did celebrating my gorgeous baby cousins 21st birthday. Today I thought I would tell you about a little book I have just finished reading. DISCLAIMER: I was gifted this book but all opinions are my own.

This book was a little different for me because I don’t normally turn to science fiction type books to read but I was intrigued by this one. When I first started reading it I will be honest I didn’t think it was gonna be for me but once I had gotten a few chapters in and new characters were introduced I was hooked.

Connor Laurel is preparing to celebrate his 13th birthday when the government comes knocking at his family’s door. They inform him that he has a disease called ‘impetus’ and that he will have to go with them to a treatment facility. Once they leave for the facility they reveal their true purpose to Connor. Impetus is not a dangerous disease like he has been led to believe. Connor is special, he is one of a few people in the world who has special abilities, non-human abilities, and they are going to teach him how to control them.

I loved how easy it was to read once you have gotten into the story and how you really do feel for Connor’s character who is going through a crazy and confusing experience. I also thought that the author did a great job at conveying the strong friendships within this novel.

The Edifice is a short read but one filled with so much action and information that it feels a lot longer and in this case that is something I loved. This is a series of books and I can not wait for the author to bring out book 2 because I just have to know what happens next.  The first book is cleverly left on a subtle cliffhanger and you just have to know what is next for Connor and his friends.

I will say it took me a little while to get into it but this book is honestly something for those who love science fiction and things like X men because that is what it reminded me of just a little. So definitely stick with it!

The Edifice is available to purchase through Amazon.

Have you read this book yet? What did you think?

Love Always,

Gee xo
