Today is a really exciting today’s post is my second official review as part of a blog tour hosted by the lovely #thewritereads, I am super excited about this one. I cannot thank Dave @thewritereads for getting me involved in this another Blog Tour and just being the most supportive person in the world. Today’s post is all about Knightmare Arcanist by Shami Stovall and I have to admit this one surprised me with how much I enjoyed this book.

Title: Knightmare Arcanist
Author: Shami Stovall
Series: Firth Chronicles #1
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Magic. Sailing. A murderer among heroes.

Gravedigger Volke Savan wants nothing more than to be like his hero, the legendary magical swashbuckler, Gregory Ruma. First he needs to become an arcanist, someone capable of wielding magic, which requires bonding with a mythical creature. And he’ll take anything—a pegasus, a griffin, a ravenous hydra—maybe even a leviathan, like Ruma. So when Volke stumbles across a knightmare, a creature made of shadow and terror, he has no reservations. But the knightmare knows a terrible secret: Ruma is a murderer out to spread corrupted magic throughout their island nation. He’s already killed a population of phoenixes and he intends to kill even more. In order to protect his home, his adopted sister, and the girl he admires from afar, Volke will need to confront his hero, the Master Arcanist Gregory Ruma

About the Author:

Shami Stovall is a multi-award-winning author of fantasy and science fiction, with several best-selling novels under her belt. Before that, she taught history and criminal law at the college level, and loved every second. When she’s not reading fascinating articles and books about ancient China or the Byzantine Empire, Stovall can be found playing way too many video games, especially RPGs and tactics simulators.

My Opinions:

This book is right up my street, it is 100% a series that I cannot wait to read the next book. I surprised myself with how quickly I completed this book however it is just one that you never wish to put down.

Knightmare Arcanist is a young adult novel. This novel took me on a magical adventure that is full of the most amazing characters. The only way to describe this book is as a grown up fairy tale.

I fell in love with the characters so quickly especially Volke. I love the way he is described and pictured. I think the passion and motivation he shows is nothing but inspiring.

I think there is just so much within this book to draw you in and keep you reading. From the way the world is described to the animal characters and the human characters. The author deserves so much praise for her descriptions and the way she makes you feel as if you are part of the book from the moment you start reading to the moment you put it down. It takes an incredible author to get you to feel a connection to so many aspects of a novel.

I think this is a book that I feel that anyone who loves a little magic and mythical creatures will love. It is another book that I have been shocked by how much I have enjoyed and I cannot wait to continue reading this series.

  2. I am a part of this tour too, and like you, I didn’t expect to like it so much. The characters were indeed so well-developed, but what I loved the most were the mystical creatures. Good review, btw. 🙂
