Ring The Bell by Josie Jaffrey: A Book Review

Happy March!

With a little spare time this month I have been going back and reading books that I have been meaning to read forever! Today’s review is one of those… Finally getting round to reading Ring The Bell by Josie Jaffrey. This is a bit of a short review as it was a short story but that did not stop me from falling head over heels with emotion for this story!

Thank you to the author for a review copy via StoryOrigin

Scale the mountain. Ring the bell. Buy your freedom. Or trade the prize to change the world.
Mia’s life is defined by the Surge. The race comes every five years, and she’s determined to win it. She’ll make it to the top first, ring the bell and set her family free.
But victory comes at a price. The faster she runs, the more people she’ll condemn to death in the valley below.
In Unterstrom, only the strongest survive.

My Review:

This book had me utterly shocked at how much I loved it, considering that it is a short story I was not expecting to fall in love with it as much as I did. I cannot believe how much Josie Jaffrey managed to fit within this short story. It is so in depth and powerful. I found myself struggling to put it down but also found myself highly emotional. Despite it only being a short story I fell in love with Mia and the characters.

By the end of the short story I found myself actually crying, my emotions thrown out of the window and being forced to finish this story that had so much important content had me fully shook. This is my fourth book of hers I have read and every time I find myself falling in love with her style more and more and very much can see her being one of my all time favourite authors.

Star Rating:

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Does this short story sound like one you would enjoy? Have you read this book?

Love Always,

Gee xoxo
