Sherlock Holmes Museum!

Happy July!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day and July. On Sunday the 20th of June not only was it Father’s Day but also my 23rd birthday! Our plans were some what changed but we still ended up going to London. However more importantly we visited somewhere that has been on my list for the longest time. If you know me well you will know that I have a slight mild obsession with Sherlock Holmes, the books, films, tv series even spin off shows have my heart. Since our original plans were cancelled we ended up visiting the Sherlock Holmes Museum.

What a day we had. I knew that I would have to write a blog post about it.

The Sherlock Holmes Museum was first opened to the public back in March of 1990. Located at the world famous 221b Baker Street stands one of the most famous address associated with Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.

Tell me that you cannot just imagine them sat here discussing the next up and coming case.

Located on the first floor of house you will find the study which in all honesty was a little overwhelming and mesmerizing to me as it felt so much like you were on set of the Tv series. I was so stunned by how similar it was and honestly how many little added facts, extras such as books that Dr Watson read were put on display.

Dr Watsons desk. Which to me is so interesting just because it is so chaotic. It makes it seem like he was never really just working on one thing.

On the second floor there is just much stuff including things from each case and a really cool bust of Sherlock himself.

Bust of sherlock.

One of my favourite things about the museum was the incredibly cute collection of letters they had on the top floor from fans writing to Sherlock. It was actually an incredibly emotional experience reading all the letters from across the world. Yet they were all connected by their love of the incredible consulting dectective.

It felt so much like he could walk round the corner any moment and join you with a little sarcastic smirk and a witty comment.

I had the best time and I cannot wait to go back at some point.

A huge massive thank you to the wonderful team at the museum who made our trip so special and such great fun.

Have you visited the Sherlock Holmes Museum? Who plays your favourite Sherlock?

Love Always,

Gee xoxo

  1. This is awesome!!! I had no idea this museum existed. It’s fantastic.

I LOVED the show Sherlock. Perfectly cast. It is on my list of shows to get on DVD.

I thought Basil Rathbone was a good Holmes, but Cumberbatch is my favorite.

  3. This looks like so much fun, and I love Sherlock Holmes. Some folks prefer Basil Rathbone, others like Peter Cushing or Ian McKellen. I’ve always thought of Basil Rathbone as the definitive Sherlock Holmes.
