Welcome to Blogtober Day 2!
I hope you are all enjoying October so far. I know that I am loving the season so far. Let’s be real, what’s not to love? However, I am biased as it is one of my favourite times of the year and I have loved how prepared for Blogtober I have made myself this year! (You are reading a post that was first drafted back in July). So I am so excited for you to see what is upcoming! I thought today we would revisit a post from last year’s Blogtober and let you know some of my favourite things about Autumn/Halloween.
Cosy Days/Nights in:
Nothing quite matches up to the feeling of curling up on the sofa, with the softest blankets and a cup of tea in hand. Especially when it is a little chilly outside and you have got an Autumn/Halloween-themed movie on in the background.
I must admit my evenings after work now consists of making a cup of tea, grabbing a blanket and throwing on the next film on my Autumn/Halloween movie bucket list. I would be lying though if I didn’t mention I am also likely to have a book in hand.
My favourite tea for this time of year is an even split between Bird & Blends Pumpkin Spice or Bonfire Toffee. If I am not drinking a cup of tea it is likely to be a Hot Chocolate instead if I am at home, or if I am out and about I will be hunting down the Pumpkin Spiced Latte. (I have no shame).
One of my favourite things about Autumn is getting all the fall decorations back out of their little boxes and making my home feel warm and cosy again.
I love that as Autumn/Halloween starts to come around stores are full of the most beautiful burnt oranges and spooky season themes. I am not going to lie, I am yet not to pick up new decorations every year… It’s like a little collection that just doesn’t stop. This being said I have an unhealthy obsession with candles this time of year.
I know many like to take the minimalist approach when it comes to seasonal decorations, I am not one of those people. If it screams cosy season I am going to need it in my life. Between September-December I will accept nothing but cosy Autumn/Wintery vibes in my life.
This kinda goes hand in hand with the previous point but I love Autumn colours. Whether in decorations, Clothes, Makeup or in nature.
The leaves change, and suddenly everything looks like it could go on Instagram. I love when everything starts to go all orange coloured and reds and browns.
As soon as Autumn starts I am hunting down my first pumpkin-spiced latte of the season and then I can almost guarantee I am stopping in TKMAXX/Homesense for pumpkin candles and as much pumpkin spice as I can find.
Every year the obsession gets worse. I am sure as I get older it’s only going to become more of an issue but hey it could be worse.
The fact that I can wear fluffy jumpers again because who doesn’t love being cosy. And as much as I love the sunshine and being in flowy dresses, I also can not help but love it when it’s time for tights and knitted dresses and boots.
Also what a perfect time to have Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood on repeat… not only do I adore the song but it reminds me of an old friend. It just has something so cosy and warm about it.
Any excuse to have a get-together with friends and family and dress up and have the best time ever sounds excellent to me.
I will always be down to embrace Spooky Season.
If you asked me a few years ago this would have been different because I was never a massive Halloween person, however, it just takes some amazing friends and silly memories to change this.
Now it is up there with one of my favourite days of the year and I get so excited to decorate my home even if it’s just to celebrate by watching Halloween movies with themed snacks.
Any excuse to watch a good Autumn/Halloween film daily which you think would be an over-exaggeration but I can promise you from the 1st of October we will be watching an Autumn/Halloween film every night.
Let’s not lie, September rolls around and I promise I’m watching nothing but Gilmore Girls and cosy movies.
I would include The Vampire Diaries on this list but we all know I am rewatching that all year round.
