Welcome to Blogtober day 10! Today’s post goes hand in hand with the date that this is being posted. On October 10th it is World Mental Health day and this is something I wanted to mention and promote within this post. Mental Health is such an important topic and one that I think still needs to be spoken about more. To incorporate World Mental Health day into my Blogtober content I thought it would be best to do a little Autumn Self-Care post and share with you just some of the ways I will be investing time into self-care and my mental health this October. Before we jump into the Self-Care portion. I just want to talk a little more about World Mental Health Day!
World Mental Health Day:
The World Health Organisation is an organisation that recognises World Mental Health day on the 10th of October every year. Each year is represented by a different theme. This year’s theme is to make “mental health and well-being for all a global priority.”
The World Health Organisation is an organisation that recognises the importance of Mental Health being treated on the same level as physical health issues.
Mental Health has become a regular topic of conversation between my friends and me and we try our best to check in with each other. We are each other’s safe place and that is something I will be forever grateful for.
One of my favourite things about Autumn is its brilliant way of making life feel cosy. It is the perfect season to include a few extra steps into practising self-care. Whether or not it includes candles, treats, teas or hot chocolates. Movies or a good book. Autumn allows us time to have cosy evenings out of the rain and surrounded by the best-smelling candles.
Lush Halloween Bath:
After a long day or evening on a weekend when we have a little more time, for me, there is nothing more relaxing than a warm long bath. Made all that more cosy and special than adding a bath bomb to the bath. Especially when they are Halloween-inspired. Lush is always a first shout when it comes to themed bath bombs. A Bath made all that more special with a candle and a good book. (Maybe an audiobook would be safer.)
We love good fluffy socks and comfortable clothes during the Autumn season. There is nothing better than getting out of a relaxing bath and putting on the comfiest pj’s and fluffy socks. I stand by the fact it is almost the most important part.
A good book/ or movie:
Autumn is to me the perfect time for a little nostalgia so it is the season I will pick up my favourite themed books and start rewatching the best of Disney Halloween.
If you are someone who doesn’t already journal I would recommend giving it a go for no other reason than sometimes it can help just to clear your head. I find getting it down on paper allows room to clear your brain of the unneeded things you are keeping.
Anything that allows you to step back from life and take a breather counts as selfcare as long as it makes you happy.
Whats your go to self-care?
